Slow response in remote control and hardware acceleration
How to de-activate hardware acceleration in Windows XP if you suspect it is causing issues with response times when doing a remote control
Instructions
Some customers report that the remote computer's CPU ramps to 100% when a remote control is established. In most cases, the situation can be fixed by deactivating the hardware graphic acceleration. This is done by moving the slider to "None" (See picture below)
Note: All graphics-related events are performed using the system bus. When hardware acceleration is enabled, several checks are performed and much information is sent between the system bus, the main memory, and other components. This uses up system resources if the graphics adapter driver is not very efficient. (Efficiency varies with the manufacturer and the driver.) By turning off the hardware acceleration, we avoid this problem.
